Troubleshooting

A malfunction does not necessarily indicate a speaker defect. Check the following possible causes.

No sound

Possible cause: amplifier fault

Connect a speaker known to work to the amplifier outputs. If there is still no sound, check that all electronics are switched on, the signal path is correct, the source is active and the volume is set.

Possible cause: speaker cables connected incorrectly

Check that all cables between the amplifier and speakers are connected correctly.

Weak bass response

Possible cause: speaker cables connected with reversed polarity

Check the connections: the amplifier's positive terminal (+) must connect to the speaker's positive terminal (+), and negative (−) to negative (−).

Constant noise, humming or buzzing

  • Poor amplifier grounding: Check and correct the amplifier's grounding problem.
  • Faulty cable: Replace it with a working cable.

Interrupted playback, crackling or distortion

Possible cause: speaker cables connected incorrectly

Check all connections on the amplifier and speakers to make sure they are correct and secure.

Switch off the amplifier before changing the speaker wiring. See Connecting the amplifier.
